Programme Description

The joint fellowship between ECTRIMS and the MOGAD Eugene Devic European Network (MEDEN) aims to foster collaboration and research among clinicians and scientists across Europe, focusing on neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) and myelin oligodendrocyte antibody associated disorder (MOGAD). The selected projects will be part of a multi-centre effort, open to all MEDEN sites, which allows fellows to engage with leading European experts in the field.

Each year, the MEDEN Committee will establish a priority research theme to guide applicants in their proposals, ensuring that research efforts align with the most urgent needs in the specialty. A jury, consisting of MEDEN leaders and an ECTRIMS representative, will select the fellowship recipient after a thorough review of applications in January 2025. The inaugural fellowship, which will last one to two years, is expected to commence as early as May 2025.

A cross-sectional analysis of the European MEDEN NMOSD and MOGAD patients

Key Information

For scientists and physicians of any nationality holding an MD, PhD, ScD, or equivalent, to provide postdoctoral, mentored research training related to MOGAD or NMOSD

One-year fellowships, with the possibility of an extension to two years, in a European MEDEN laboratory or clinic

Citizens of any country are eligible to apply to this programme. However, research training must be undertaken in a MEDEN European laboratory or clinic from among the following:
- Lyon, France: Hospices Civils de Lyon, Sclérose en plaques, pathologies de la myéline et neuroinflammation
- Oxford, UK: John Radcliffe Hospital, Department of Clinical Neurology
- Berlin, Germany: Charite-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC)
- Verona, Italy: Neurology Unit, Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences, University of Verona
- Barcelona, Spain: Multiple Sclerosis Centre of Catalonia (Cemcat), Vall d’Hebron Barcelona Hospital Campus, Neurology-Neuroimmunology Department

Research must be related to MODAG or NMOSD, in any relevant specialty or field

The application requires documents from the candidate, the proposed mentor, and the proposed host training institute, as well as other professional referees
