Currency and Banks
The official currency in Spain is the Euro (EUR). All major credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, are widely accepted in most places throughout Spain, including Barcelona.
Numerous ATMs are available 24 hours a day, accepting both debit and credit cards. While some ATMs may not charge a fee, your bank could impose charges for foreign transactions or using an out-of-network ATM.
Banks in Barcelona typically operate on weekdays from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM CEST, though some may close earlier on Fridays.
Electricity
Spain, like most European countries, uses the 230 Volt/50 Hz standard and the two-pin continental plugs (Type C and Type F).
If you are traveling from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, or any other country that uses voltage between 220 and 240 volts, you will only need a plug adaptor. However, if you are traveling from a country that uses a voltage range of 100-127V, such as the United States, Canada, or a significant portion of South America, you will need to bring a voltage converter to safely use your electronic devices.
Some hotels offer the option to borrow power converters, so it’s worth checking with your accommodation before you travel.
Film and Photos
When you enter an ECTRIMS event or programme, you enter an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by ECTRIMS. Images, photos and/or videos may also be used to promote similar ECTRIMS events and promotional activities in the future.
