The Nurse and Allied Health Professional Training Fellowship Programme aims to help successful candidates enhance their knowledge in the latest techniques in patient management & care and to help foster their careers as MS nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, and related AHPs.
Meet current recipient Lorena Lopez Rayes
2022 Nurse and AHP Fellow Lorena Lopez-Rayes is from Colombia. She will attend the Multiple Sclerosis Center of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain, under the mentorship of MS Consultant Nurse Rosalia Horno Ocana.
During her one-year fellowship in the clinical neuroimmunology unit, her research will focus on developing a nursing intervention of preconception counseling to facilitate and support shared decision-making for women with multiple sclerosis.
Lorena says the objective of her training is “to acquire knowledge for nursing care and research in MS. With this knowledge I will improve and strengthen my work in patient care, and implement and develop lines of research in nursing. And from a teaching perspective I will transfer the acquired knowledge to my nursing colleagues.”
Successful applicants like Lorena have the opportunity to build experience working on key research in the field of multiple sclerosis, while receiving training and mentoring throughout the programme.
